A Gulf and regional welcome to the resumption of diplomatic representation between the UAE and Qatar

Many Arab and Gulf countries welcomed the resumption of diplomatic representation between the UAE and Qatar, which comes in implementation of the agreement of the leaders of the Cooperation Council states, at the “Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah Summit”, which was held in the city of Al-Ula, and in support and promotion of the joint Gulf action process, in a way that achieves the aspirations of the peoples of the GCC countries.

Jassim Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, welcomed the resumption of diplomatic representation between the UAE and Qatar, which comes in implementation of the agreement of the leaders of the GCC countries, at the “Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah Summit”, which was held in January 2021. Al-Budaiwi praised With this blessed step, which embodies the leaders’ keenness on the GCC march and the bonds of kinship, friendship, brotherhood, history, common destiny, and unity in the Gulf house, and in support and enhancement of the joint Gulf action march, in a manner that achieves the aspirations of the peoples of the GCC states. Egypt also welcomed the re-establishment of diplomatic representation between the UAE and Qatar, and in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, it praised this positive step in the path of strengthening joint Arab action and consolidating Arab unity, affirming its support for all efforts aimed at strengthening Arab relations at various levels and protecting the interests of the Arab peoples. .

While the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Sultanate’s welcome to the resumption of diplomatic representation between the State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, in implementation of the Al-Ula Agreement and an extension of fraternal relations and historical ties, and the consolidation of joint Gulf action in a way that enhances security, stability and prosperity for all countries in the region. For its part, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs welcomed the resumption of diplomatic representation between the UAE and Qatar, in implementation of the “Al-Ula” agreement.

In a statement today, the official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Sinan Al-Majali, stressed the importance of this agreement in strengthening cooperation efforts between Arab countries, and activating joint Arab action, in a way that serves common Arab interests. The UAE and Qatar decided to restore diplomatic representation between them by resuming the work of the UAE embassy in Doha, and the Qatari embassy in Abu Dhabi and its consulate in Dubai on Monday.
