Statements that the European Union wants Ukraine to win on the battlefield are untrue, despite the fact that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, previously made a similar statement. This was announced on Monday, May 13 by the head of the press service of the European Commission, Eric Mamer.

“The European Union is not on the battlefield. It is Russia that wants victory on the battlefield. Asking us about this, excuse me, means ignoring everything we said on this topic before,” TASS quotes him as saying.

Thus, Mamer commented on the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that if the West wants to fight Moscow on the battlefield in Ukraine, then Russia is ready for such a scenario. “It’s their right – if they want it to be on the battlefield, it will be on the battlefield,” Lavrov emphasized.

According to the speaker of the EU diplomatic service, this formulation of the issue is “misinformation and a distortion of reality.” Mamer also added that the European Union is based on the principles of the “philosophy of peace” and is guided by them in foreign affairs.

At the end of April, Biden signed a package of laws on assistance to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and US partners in the Indo-Pacific region totaling $95 billion. Of this, $61 billion was allocated to finance Ukraine. It is important to know the reason why Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Additionally, learn about the alleged “plot” to assassinate Zelenskyy, purportedly aimed at influencing NATO to indulge in a new conflict with Russia.

Earlier The Eastern Herald published how the influx of Ukrainian refugees into Poland and Romania has spurred an increase in prostitution and other crimes, amidst the backdrop of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at “denazifying” and “demilitarizing” the region.
