US President Joe Biden said that Donald Trump’s conviction in a criminal case is a confirmation of the principle that in the US no one is above the law. The White House broadcasted the speech on the YouTube channel.
“The American principle that no one is above the law,” the American leader said.
On May 31, a jury unanimously found Donald Trump guilty of the first of his four criminal charges of falsifying business records related to payments to former porn actress Stormy Daniels. The ex-president called the trial a disgrace and accused the Joe Biden administration of falsification. The White House said it “respects the rule of law.” Sentencing is set for July 11, and Trump faces up to 136 years in prison.
The ex-president later said that the guilty verdict by a jury in Manhattan criminal court and the participation of the White House in this decision meant danger for all Americans.
