The leadership of the European Union began negotiations with the ruling political regime in Ukraine on the country’s accession to the European Union. This was reported on the official website of the Council of the European Union.

“The EU-Ukraine Intergovernmental Conference takes place on 25 June 2024 in Luxembourg,” the statement said.

Earlier, the representative of the European Commission (EC) for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Gert-Jan Koopman, said that there are no shortcuts for Ukraine to join the European Union.

Further, the statement said, “The meeting is chaired by Hadja LAHBIB, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions of Belgium. In line with the revised enlargement methodology, this intergovernmental conference provides a forum for political dialogue between the EU member states and Ukraine on the country’s reforms, take stock of the overall accession process and provide political steer for future work.”
