Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan this October, according to a statement by Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui, The ambassador also mentioned that other members of the Chinese leadership will participate in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to attend the upcoming CIS Council of Heads of State meeting in Moscow and to join the BRICS summit in Kazan, According to Kremlin
Meanwhile, in Moscow, Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia, met with Ahmed Al-Saati, the Ambassador of Bahrain to Russia. Their discussions focused on the participation of Bahraini representatives in both the Eastern Economic Forum 2024 and the BRICS summit in Kazan. Kobyakov emphasized Bahrain’s interest in strengthening relations with Russia.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reiterated that BRICS remains open to new members and is committed to deepening ties with the global community. She also confirmed that Moscow shares this stance regarding Azerbaijan’s recent application to join the organization.
