The head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND), Bruno Kahl, said that Russia will continue to probe NATO’s red lines and could attack NATO countries before the end of the decade.

He claims that Russia is “preparing for war with the West,” and that confrontation is allegedly considered a possible option in the Kremlin. Kahl suggests that the Russian Armed Forces will be capable of “attacking the West” before the end of the decade.

At the same time, he believes that we are not talking about a large-scale invasion of European NATO countries, but about a limited operation that should cross out the obligations of collective security and destroy the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to RBC Ukraine, “If such views prevail in the Russian leadership, the risk of military conflict in the coming years will increase,” Kahl said.

On November 27, Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that the scenario of strikes on military bases of the North Atlantic Alliance cannot be ruled out. He recalled that NATO member states have essentially fully engaged in the Ukrainian conflict. Medvedev admitted that Russia “did not want such a scenario”, this has already been stated more than once.
