MUMBAI — Apollo Tyres traded 52.57 lakh shares on Monday. By 11:49 on Tuesday it had traded 2.20 lakh. Whatever was moving through this stock for five sessions appears to have finished moving, and nobody ever said what it was.

The shares were quoted at ₹441.50 on the National Stock Exchange at 11:49 IST, down ₹4.35 or 0.98 percent on Monday’s close of ₹445.85, and at the same ₹441.50 on the BSE. Apollo opened at ₹447.00, got no further than ₹447.15, and has worked down to ₹440.55. Turnover so far is 26.8 percent of what has become a distorted twenty-session average, and extrapolates to roughly 5.4 lakh shares for the full day. These are live intraday figures from a session that settles at 15:30.

Monday’s session was the loud one. The stock gapped 5.77 percent higher at the open, touched ₹467.40 inside the first hour, and gave almost all of it back by the close, keeping 1.40 percent. It arrived on turnover twenty-three times what the stock had traded five sessions earlier. Apollo Tyres made no announcement to the exchanges before that open, has made none since, and its last material disclosure remains the June-quarter results of August 7.

Live intraday figures captured at 11:49 IST on August 25, 2026, about 154 minutes into a session that runs to 15:30. These are last traded prices, not closing prices, and they will change. Open, high and low for the BSE line were not captured in this run, so those cells are left blank. Valuation ratios and market capitalisation are Screener’s consolidated figures, struck at Monday’s close.

The intraday range so far is ₹6.60, or 1.5 percent of the price. On Monday it was ₹25.30, or 5.7 percent. That is the clearest single measure of how completely the last five sessions have switched off.

NSE closing prices and volumes; the final row is live intraday and not a close. Turnover ran from 2.23 lakh shares on August 17 to 52.57 lakh on August 24, and Tuesday’s morning pace extrapolates to about 5.4 lakh for the full session. Note that the twenty-session average volume this compares against is itself inflated by the spike, so the percentage understates how far turnover has fallen.

Read the volume column top to bottom and the shape is unmistakable. Three ordinary sessions of two to three lakh shares. Then August 19, the low of the period at ₹427.35 on 19.32 lakh shares, nearly nine times the previous day. Then a rising price on rising volume for three sessions, peaking at 52.57 lakh on Monday. Then, on Tuesday morning, nothing.

That sequence is the classic shape of a position changing hands: a capitulation low on a volume spike, accumulation on the way back up, and a return to normal turnover once the transfer is complete. It is a description, not a diagnosis. Who was on either side of it is not public and may never be. What can be said is that the pattern has now run its full course and the stock is trading like the illiquid mid-cap it usually is.

A Company That Was Near Breakeven a Year Ago

The fundamental backdrop to all of this is a June quarter that most people missed, because it was published on August 7 and the stock did nothing about it for nine sessions.

Pre-tax profit and revenue growth as reported for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 on August 7, 2026. Trailing valuation figures are Screener’s. The company does not break out the input-cost movement behind the profit increase.

A tyre maker whose revenue grows 13 percent while pre-tax profit multiplies more than twelvefold is a company that was operating close to breakeven a year ago and is not any more. Rubber and crude-derived input costs are the usual explanation for that pattern in this industry, and the direction of both over the past year favours the manufacturer rather than the buyer.

What that does not tell you is how much of the improvement is durable. Apollo Tyres does not break out the input-cost movement that carried pre-tax profit from ₹38.30 crore to ₹467.63 crore, so there is no way from the disclosures to separate operating improvement from a favourable commodity cycle. A stock on 13.3 times earnings is not pricing that distinction either way.

Apollo Tyres Share Price: The Levels Left Behind

₹427.35 on August 19 is the floor of the whole move and ₹467.40 on Monday morning the ceiling, both printed inside four sessions. Between them the stock has settled into the low forties, and Tuesday’s ₹440.55 low is the first meaningful test of whether Friday’s ₹439.70 close holds as support. The 52-week high of ₹540.50 is 18.3 percent above the current price; the low of ₹365.30 is 20.9 percent below.

What this article cannot tell you is what happened before Monday’s open, and Tuesday has made that gap in the record more conspicuous rather than less. A 5.77 percent gap arrives either on news, on a large block being priced overnight, or on a broker action, and none of those has surfaced publicly in the day since. The volume has now gone. If a block was placed, the buyer is not adding. If it was news, it never became public. Either way the stock has returned to trading a couple of lakh shares a day, which is where it was before any of this started.

Elsewhere in Tuesday’s session, Hindustan Zinc was the market’s steepest faller at 2.67 percent, Steel Authority of India was the only large metal producer still rising, and Larsen and Toubro was trading at the lightest pace of any large cap.

Apollo Tyres’ June-quarter figures are drawn from the results the company reported for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 on its investor relations pages. Intraday prices and the scrip identifiers were checked against the exchange’s own quote page for scrip 500877.
