Jorrel Hato replaced Pep Chavarria in Chelsea’s starting lineup against Everton on Saturday, the only change Xabi Alonso made from the side that beat Bournemouth 5-1. Chavarria was absent from the matchday squad as Chelsea retained their three-man attack of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro.

The confirmed selections for the October 17 Premier League fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium put Hato on the left of Chelsea’s 3-4-2-1 system. Moises Caicedo took the captain’s armband, with Jordan Henderson alongside him in central midfield and Pedro Neto on the opposite flank.

Chelsea’s official team announcement confirmed the single alteration. The limited reshuffle left most of the Bournemouth-winning team in place rather than turning the trip to Merseyside into an opportunity for broad rotation.

Emiliano Martinez was named in goal behind Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill. Ahead of them, the combination of Neto, Henderson, Caicedo and Hato preserved two central midfielders and width on both sides, with Palmer and Rogers supporting Joao Pedro.

The selection kept Romeo Lavia and Valentin Barco among the substitutes. Wesley Fofana also began on the bench, while Reece James was not included in the matchday squad. Chelsea’s starting personnel and the 3-4-2-1 formation were also listed in The Standard’s confirmed team report.

Everton named Jordan Pickford in goal, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, captain James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitalii Mykolenko in their starting side. James Garner and Harrison Armstrong were selected alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Merlin Rohl, Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry.

The inclusion of Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall and Rohl gave Everton several options around Barry. For Chelsea, the immediate selection question was how Hato’s inclusion would fit into the left side of a system whose other ten starters remained unchanged. The team sheets established those choices, not how the match would unfold.

The complete Chelsea starting XI was Martinez; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Henderson, Caicedo, Hato; Palmer, Rogers; Joao Pedro. Caicedo was designated captain.

Chelsea’s substitutes were Mike Penders, Wesley Fofana, Marco Palestra, Valentin Barco, Romeo Lavia, Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli, Estevao, Geovany Quenda and Danny Welbeck. That bench left Alonso with defensive cover, alternative midfield combinations and several attacking options if he chose to change the shape or personnel.

Everton’s starting XI was Pickford; Maitland-Niles, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Garner, Armstrong, Dewsbury-Hall, Rohl, Grealish and Barry. Tarkowski was named captain.

Everton listed Mark Travers, Jake O’Brien, Tyrique George, Tyler Dibling, Christian Norgaard, Brennan Johnson, Charly Alcaraz, Hayden Hackney and Braiden Graham as substitutes. Both full matchday squads were published in We Ain’t Got No History’s lineup report.

The fixture was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Eastern on Saturday, October 17, equivalent to 12:30 p.m. in the United Kingdom. Chelsea’s match preview identified the lunchtime kickoff at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

UK television coverage was listed on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate. Streaming access depended on the relevant subscription, with The Standard’s viewing guide, carried by Yahoo Sports, identifying the HBO Max app and website for TNT subscribers.

These are the confirmed pre-match selections and scheduled viewing arrangements. They do not constitute a live score update or a match result. Chelsea’s headline decision was continuity after the Bournemouth win, with Hato the sole change and the established attacking trio retained, including Morgan Rogers.
