Damascus, Syria / TEH: The Syrian regime said, on Saturday, that its air defenses repelled the Israeli air aggression that targeted points in the center of the country.

The regime’s “SANA ” news agency quoted an unnamed military source as saying: “At approximately 6:45 pm today, Saturday, (15:45 GMT), the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the direction of northern Lebanon.”

The source added, “The aggression targeted some points (the nature of which was not clarified) in the central region.”

He pointed out to The Eastern Herald online magazine that “the air defenses confronted the aggression’s missiles and shot down some of them.”

The source explained that “work is underway to check the results of the aggression,” without providing further details.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on the matter.

For years, regime-controlled areas have been subjected to Israeli bombardment from time to time, targeting sites for its forces and military bases affiliated with Iran and its terrorist groups.
