G7 finance ministers and central bankers will meet on February 23 to discuss new measures against Russia to end the war in Ukraine, Japanese Finance Minister Sunichi Suzuki said on Tuesday.
Japan will chair a meeting of G7 finance ministers and central bankers to be held in Bangalore, India on Thursday. The meeting will take place nearly a year after Russia invaded Ukraine.
The war continues despite the numerous sanctions and restrictive measures that the G7 and other countries have taken against Russia.
“We will continue to coordinate closely with the G7 and the international community to strengthen the effect of the sanctions to achieve the ultimate goal of encouraging Russia to leave. [из Украины]said Suzuki at a press conference.
Japan is chairing this year’s G7 ministerial meetings ahead of the G7 leaders’ meeting in Hiroshima from May 19-21. The G7 includes the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States.
