The new status of bilateral relations between China and Belarus should be filled with new content, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a four-hour meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, whom he called “an old friend “.
“The new status of bilateral relations must be filled with new content. Today, we have a good opportunity to draw up a plan for the whole bilateral relationship and adopt a joint statement,” Xi was quoted as saying by BelTA news agency.
The leaders of the two countries discussed the Ukrainian crisis. Meanwhile, the Chinese president called for abandoning the Cold War mentality, respecting other countries’ interests and adhering to a political settlement. Lukashenka supported Xi Jinping’s words and China’s initiative in the field of international security.

Besides, the Belarusian leader suggested creating new businesses with China and expanding cooperation.
