March 18, 2023

Astronomer Salman bin Jabr bin Mohammed Al Thani, head of the Qatar Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences, warned against the classification that appears on social media and causes confusion and sedition regarding the sighting of the crescent of the first month of Ramadan.

And astronomer Salman bin Jabr said – in a video broadcast on his official Twitter account – “A week before Ramadan .. I recommend to the pioneers of social networking sites not to listen during this period to a group of people who remain hidden throughout the year and then appear at the end of Sha’ban and the beginning of Ramadan to stir up confusion and sedition about the birth of the crescent of the month of Ramadan”.

added: “This group does not like anything, so if we fast on the astronomical calculation, they do not like it, and if we fast on the investigation of the vision, they do not like it either.”.

The astronomer Salman bin Jabr called for fasting, according to the statement of the Crescent Investigation Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, as it is the only authority authorized to investigate the sighting of the first month of Ramadan.
