In a March 16 meeting with a delegation from the State Duma of the Russian Federation headed by Chairman of the Energy Committee Pavel Zavalny, the minister said that the two sides had already achieved more than half of union program activities in the energy sector, reports BELTA .
Noting that the parliamentary dimension plays an important role in the promotion of trade union programmes, both in terms of drawing up proposals for the implementation of trade union decisions adopted in national and departmental programmes, and in terms of improving the legislative framework , creation of economic programs and legal conditions for the development of bilateral cooperation in the electricity and gas industry, the Minister stressed that Minsk counts on the support of Russian colleagues in the future.
Over the years of trade union relations, according to him, Belarus and Russia have made significant progress in forming a common energy space. The necessary regulatory and legal framework has been created for the active development and deepening of integration processes in the energy sector, the operation of energy systems has been synchronized, major joint projects have been implemented, the most important of which was the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
Fundamental documents have been drawn up at interministerial level and are currently subject to internal approval procedures: an interstate agreement on the constitution of a single electricity market, as well as the rules for its operation. The unified principles of operation and regulation of the unified gas market are in the development phase.
“It is important for us that these documents guarantee the future development of common energy markets, the procedure of joint work and the convergence of conditions for the economic entities of the two countries”, underlined the head of the energy department of the Republic of Belarus.
