Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Germany promises to arrest Putin

German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann has promised to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin if he arrives in Germany, according to TELMENEWS.RU news agency

As the German edition Die Zeit writes, the head of the German Ministry of Justice is ready to respond to the request of the International Criminal Court for the arrest of Vladimir Putin if “his foot sets foot on the territory of the ‘Germany’, since the country is subject to the jurisdiction of the ICC.

Recall that earlier this court, not recognized by Russia, had issued an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin and the children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. The charges related to “abducting Ukrainian children and transporting them to Russia”. In May 2022, Putin signed a decree simplifying the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for orphans in the Special Operation Zone left without parental care.

The Kremlin called the court’s decision “insignificant from the point of view of law.” Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov considers the issue of Vladimir Putin’s arrest to be outrageous and unacceptable.
