The US authorities are preparing for protests that may erupt if Trump is charged

October 4, 2025

The police force responsible for protecting the US Congress / Capitol / stated that there were no direct or credible threats hours before the possibility of charging former US President Donald Trump. A security official told CNN that officials in Washington are preparing for demonstrations that may erupt, adding that there is a body called the Joint Information Center that includes 12 agencies on standby. The official pointed out that there was no indication or expectation of violent demonstrations, and that the Capital Police Department had not received requests for permits to demonstrate. Law enforcement officials stressed the need to adequately prepare for the possibility of Donald Trump’s surrender and court appearance. Last Saturday, Donald Trump called on his supporters to protest in response to his possible arrest, echoing the calls he made for protests in Washington, in response to his loss in the 2020 elections, and those protests later turned into violent acts when dozens of his supporters stormed the Capitol.
