The Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Our position on the Syrian crisis depends on the regime’s moves and the Arab consensus on them

Dr. Majid bin Muhammad al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the position of the State of Qatar on the Syrian crisis is crystal clear, but it depends on two main determinants. The first is that the regime fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people for a political solution and the Geneva Communiqué. One, and the second determinant is the Arab consensus on these moves.

In the briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Ansari said: With regard to the Jordanian initiative to be launched, which is based on a direct Arab role that engages with the Syrian government in a political dialogue aimed at resolving the crisis and addressing its humanitarian, security and political repercussions, the State of Qatar supports all initiatives aimed at finding peace. in Syria, and supports all Arab and international efforts in this regard.

He pointed out that there are many initiatives that have been launched and that Qatar is involved in many of them aimed primarily at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people, and supporting any effort that achieves comprehensive peace in accordance with the aforementioned main determinants. Regarding the Qatari position on the decisions of the Afghan caretaker government regarding preventing girls from education, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that Qatar has repeatedly condemned these decisions, indicating that it started early in positive communication with the Afghan government, and practical mechanisms were put in place to achieve the wishes of the Afghan people and meet their aspirations.

He pointed out that the Qatar Fund for Development signed a memorandum of understanding with the Afghan Ministry of Education regarding the launch of a project "Teaching children out of school" With the aim of enrolling 30,000 male and female students, 50 percent of whom are girls, to complete their primary education in several Afghan provinces, and that this project will last for 3 years, expressing his hope that the current government will change its approach with regard to women’s rights to education and work.

Dr. Majid bin Muhammad al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reviewed the efforts and movements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the past two weeks, including the contact of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran, and his welcoming of the Saudi-Iranian agreement and the issuance of the declaration The joint, and the support of the State of Qatar for all that is stated in it.

Al-Ansari drew attention to His Excellency’s meetings with the Rwandan President and other officials who visited Doha recently, and His Excellency’s participation in the 155th session of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

He also reviewed the efforts of the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and their external participation in the Council of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and their meetings with many European, American and African officials and international, regional and international organizations with the aim of coordinating efforts and supporting peace and development processes in various regions of the world, especially Arab, Islamic and African countries.

He recalled the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it condemned, in the strongest terms, the statements of the Israeli Minister of Finance, in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people, and his use of a map of Israel that includes the borders of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the occupied Palestinian territories, and that this act is a flagrant violation of international norms and covenants, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities. Oblige Israel to respect the resolutions of international legitimacy. At the same time, stressing the firm position of the State of Qatar on the justice of the Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
