Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The World Athletics Council has agreed to restore the full status of the All-Russian Athletics Federation

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe has announced that the task force’s recommendation to restore the full status of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) has been accepted and approved.

“The Council has agreed to reinstate ARAF after a seven-year suspension. However, athletes, officials and staff from Russia and Belarus remain suspended from competition for the foreseeable future due to events in Ukraine. I thank Rune Andersen and the entire working group for the work they have done during these seven years. I hope that now the world of Russian athletics will have no doubts when the athletes of this country will compete again,” the World Athletics chief said at a press conference.

Sebastian Crowe also recalled that ARAF had been suspended in 2015 due to doping violations, in connection with which she had been given conditions for reinstatement, which she fulfilled.
