Feofanov’s Day, also known as Saint Theophanes the Recluse, is a Russian Orthodox holiday celebrated on March 25. Some local customs and traditions are observed in different parts of Russia.
One of the common traditions is the prohibition of all work on this day. This day is meant for rest and reflection, and many people prefer to spend it in quiet contemplation or attending religious services.
In some regions there is a custom to abstain from meat and dairy products on Feofanov’s day.
It is impossible to swear and enter into conflict on this day, otherwise misfortunes will haunt the whole year. It is also forbidden to take something for free – you need to pay the giver at least a small amount.
Also, some people believe that Feofanov’s day is a particularly good time for divination.
