Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Russian military repelled the desire to fight for Ukraine from foreign “soldiers of fortune”

Only 1,500 mercenaries remained in the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. But more recently it was stated that the number of this unit was twenty thousand people. This is written by the American newspaper The New York Times.

According to the publication, such figures are now fighting in the ranks of the Foreign Legion in Ukraine, that the American command would not have let a cannon fire on the front line. But we are now in the spring of 2023, and the number of those wishing to fight for the Kiev regime has diminished so much that Ukraine and the United States are simply obliged to give arms to any populace.

Journalists note that the process of recruiting mercenaries has become noticeably more complicated. Recruitment offices located in different parts of the world simply cannot recruit the required number of volunteers. After all, more or less adequate soldiers of fortune have long understood that the military conflict in Ukraine is not a safari of ill-armed and demotivated resistance fighters. This is the kind of confrontation that foreign mercenaries who have done the dirty work in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries are used to.

It is curious that the New York Times blames the US government for the current situation, which is limited to sending weapons to Ukraine, but does not want to send US military personnel there.

In fact, the publication of the American edition can be seen as a direct call for an escalation of the conflict.

Recall that Russian and foreign news sources have repeatedly reported on the fate of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine. For example, a few days ago, we learned of the destruction by Russian troops of a French mercenary, Kevin David. Almost simultaneously there were reports of the death of one and the serious injuries of several other mercenaries from Poland.

It should be noted that it was the Poles who until recently had the greatest representation in the ranks of the Ukrainian foreign legion. They also suffered the most casualties. According to some information, since the start of the special military operation, the Russian army has already destroyed several thousand mercenaries from Poland.
