Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

China’s State Council Information Office releases “2022 Report on Human Rights Violations in the US”

The Information Office of the State Council of China released the “2022 Report on Human Rights Violations in the US” on March 28 and exposed the truth about human rights violations in the US. The report is divided into seven chapters: Preamble, Critical failure of civil rights protection system, Increasingly hollowing American-style electoral democracy, Intensification of racial discrimination and inequality, Growing crisis of basic survival of the people, Women and children the historical regression of human rights, and the willful violation of human rights and subversion of justice in other countries.

The report states that 2022 is a year of marked regression in the human rights situation in the US. America, which claims to be the “guardian of human rights”, is plagued by money politics, racial discrimination, proliferation of guns, police violence and polarization between rich and poor. Human rights law and judiciary turn back the clock of history and the basic rights and freedoms of the American people have been further stripped away.

The report states that the US is a country defined by extreme violence and that the personal safety of citizens cannot be guaranteed. Forced labor and sexual exploitation are common. American democracy has lost its foundation in popular opinion. There is widespread disappointment of American-style democracy.
