Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Polyansky said the UN Security Council expects a speedy investigation into the Nord Stream explosions

After the vote on the Russian resolution in the UN Security Council, positive changes are observed. Thus, some members expect three countries – Denmark, Sweden and Germany – to quickly investigate the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

It was noted that many of them were in favor of a transparent investigation and to inform the United Nations Security Council of the details received. Dmitry Polyansky, the first deputy permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, spoke about it in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Many members of the UN Security Council have made it clear that they support a transparent and, I would say, expeditious investigation. There have therefore been many signals to the authorities in Denmark, Sweden and Germany to complete this investigation and inform the Council of the concrete results,” said Polyansky.

He added that there is some pressure from the abstaining part of the UN Security Council, but who nevertheless “advocate the need for rapid progress and clarification of many details”.

“I think this is also a positive result of the current vote,” said the first deputy representative of the Russian Federation to the UN.

Earlier, during the vote on the Russian resolution on the creation of an international commission to investigate the terrorist attacks on gas pipelines, only Russia, China and Brazil voted in favor. The rest of the members abstained. China, Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Eritrea, Nicaragua and Venezuela were sponsors of the Russian Federation draft resolution.
