Landfill rehabilitation in Zaozersk more than 50% complete

In Zaozersk, work continues on the rehabilitation of a licensed MSW landfill. The readiness of the drainage system is estimated at 80%.

On Wednesday, March 28, the press service of the government of the Murmansk region reported on the progress of work on the rehabilitation of a licensed municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill in Zaozersk.

So, representatives of the Arctic Government, the Zaozersk administration and the customer of the works, the MKU “Urban Management”, visited the facility during a control visit. At present, the construction of the drainage system is in progress, the activities are 80% complete.

The rehabilitation of this landfill is implemented as part of the national Ecology project. The overall readiness of the facility is currently 51.5%, construction monitoring is ongoing.

The landfill reclamation works are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024 and then the biological stage will follow – fertility and vegetation will be restored for further land use.

Recall that earlier “The Eastern Heraldin Murmansk” said that the Murmansk region is among the leaders in the national environmental rating.
