His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the regular meeting that the Council held this afternoon, via visual communication technology. After the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs said the following: At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet renewed the State of Qatar’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the continuation of extremists in some European countries in their criminal and provocative practices that are contrary to the most basic rules of morals, customs and civilized behaviour, when an extremist group burned a copy of the Qur’an Sheriff in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. The Council affirmed that committing these reprehensible and irresponsible acts, in this blessed month, would inflame feelings of hatred, stir up strife and encourage extremism, which threatens the values of peaceful coexistence. The Council again called on the international community to take measures to ensure respect for religions, to criminalize violations of their sanctity and sanctity, to stop the wave of fanaticism, extremism and unjustified hatred against Islam and Muslims in some countries, and to work to spread a culture of brotherhood, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among countries and peoples. After that, the Council of Ministers considered the issues on the agenda as follows: First – The Council of Ministers took note of the Shura Council’s approval of a draft law on documents and archives. The draft law aims to regulate dealing with public, historical, national and other documents, and to classify, preserve and protect them. Second – The Cabinet reviewed the adoption of the Mutual Evaluation Report of the Anti-Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Financing of Proliferation System in the State of Qatar during the general meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which was held in Paris from February 20 to 24, 2023, and its results confirm that The State of Qatar has a very strong legal and regulatory framework in this field. The Council affirmed the State of Qatar’s commitment to combating money laundering and terrorist financing, improving and strengthening the control system, updating related plans, and enhancing participation and contribution to international efforts to combat financial crimes. The Cabinet directed the concerned government agencies, the National Committee for Combating Terrorism, and the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, to work on implementing the recommendations contained in the report, in order to achieve more positive results. Third – Approving draft decisions of the Minister of Interior regarding: A – Forming committees to examine appeals and grievances for the Central Municipal Council elections. B – Formation of election committees for the elections of the Central Municipal Council. C – Formation of voter registration committees for the Central Municipal Council elections. The preparation of the aforementioned draft decisions comes in preparation for the elections of the seventh session of the Central Municipal Council 2023, the date of which is soon. Fourth – Approval of: A – A draft agreement for cooperation in the legal field between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Dominican Republic. B – A draft memorandum of understanding in the field of education and training of diplomats between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the State of Qatar and the Azerbaijan University for Diplomatic Studies affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Fifth – The Cabinet reviewed the study prepared by the National Agency for Cybersecurity on the appropriateness of setting a unified budget for government agencies to implement electronic insurance requirements, and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
