Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

In the Arctic, there is a decrease in the migratory flow

Changes in the migration flow in the region were discussed in the Murmansk region. It turned out that it is decreasing. Read more in the material “The Eastern Heraldin Murmansk”.

The issue was raised at a meeting of the Duma Committee on Labor, Migration and Employment, chaired by Deputy Alexander Makarevich, the Nord-News news agency reported with reference to the press service of the regional parliament.

It became known that last year the number of foreign citizens registered in the migration register amounted to about 50,000 people. However, at that time, around 71,000 migrants left it.

According to Boris Makarevich, head of the regional migration directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, in 2022, 20,666 labor and civil law contracts were concluded with foreign citizens. The indicator decreased by almost five thousand compared to last year. More than 11,000 patents were also granted, 3,000 less than in 2021.

However, the region’s Minister of Labor and Social Development Sergey Myakishev noted that, first of all, the emphasis is on attracting qualified specialists. At present, this does not affect the social tension in the labor market.

Also at the meeting, they said that the consolidated budget of the Murmansk region for the past year received about 700 million rubles from the income from the patent of foreign citizens.

President Alexander Makarevich noted that despite the decrease in the migration flow, the main goal of these citizens is to find a job. Basically, they go to Murmansk and the Kola region.
