Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The State Duma wants to toughen sanctions against terrorism

The State Duma of Russia will be amended to toughen sanctions against terrorism. This was announced by the head of the State Duma Committee on Security Vasily Piskarev. According to him, it will be proposed to extend the list of offenses which provide for life imprisonment.

The MP noted that it is planned to toughen the penalty for terrorist act, aiding terrorist activities, propaganda of terrorism and other articles which provide the penalty for terrorist activities.

“This is necessary to protect against the unprecedented threats our country is currently facing from Ukraine and its Western sponsors. Anyone who plots, plans a terrorist attack, aids or simply justifies terrorists should not escape the most severe punishment,” Vasily Piskarev wrote on his Telegram channel.

Recall that the day before, during a creative evening of Vladlen Tatarsky, an explosion occurred in a cafe on the Universitetskaya Embankment in St. Petersburg. As a result of the incident, a war correspondent was killed, 33 other people were injured, eight of them in serious condition.

The criminal case is being investigated as part of an article about a terrorist attack. Darya Trepova (Daria Trepova) was arrested on suspicion of having taken part in the explosion. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee believes that Tatarsky’s murder was planned by Ukrainian special services.
