England beat Brazil to win first Women’s Finalsima title

April 13, 2023

England won their maiden Women’s Finalsima football competition title with a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Brazil thanks to a goal from Chloe Kelly. This match is played between the champion teams of Europe and South America. 83,132 spectators reached the stadium to watch this final match played at Wembley.

England’s victory looked assured with a 23rd-minute goal by Illia Toone, but Brazil equalized in the third minute of second-half injury time.

Brazil’s Andresa Alves took advantage of a mistake by England goalkeeper Mary Earps to level the scores at 1-1.

The match then went to a penalty shootout in which goals from Georgia Stanway, Rachael Daly, Alex Greenwood and Kelly ensured victory for England.

Before the start of the match, both the teams paid tribute to Pele, who passed away in December last year.
