Ukrainian leaders have changed some of their military plans after secret Pentagon documents leaked onto the web. This was reported by CNN, citing a source close to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The TV channel did not specify what the change in Ukraine’s plans means and how big they are.
CNN reviewed 53 documents, all of which “appear to have been produced between mid-February and early March.” One of them, according to the channel, claims that Washington is spying on the Ukrainian president. It’s no surprise, according to a source close to Zelenskyy, but Ukrainian officials are deeply disappointed by the leak.
According to CNN, a US intelligence report said that the Ukrainian president had “proposed in late February to strike Russian troops in the Rostov region of Russia” using unmanned aerial vehicles, because Kiev does not have long range weapons.
On April 7, the NYT newspaper reported that secret US documents appeared on the web, including outlining US and NATO plans to increase support for the Ukrainian military ahead of its March 1 counteroffensive. . Although the documents do not contain information on how, when and where the UAF plans to launch an offensive, they do contain information on what the Ukrainian military may need for this campaign.
The day after the massive data breach, another set of classified US documents surfaced on social media. These materials concerned not only Ukraine, but also China and the Middle East. According to the NYT, we are talking about more than 100 documents.
On April 9, the Washington Post (WP), citing sources, wrote that senior Pentagon officials had fallen into a “panic” after classified US documents hit the internet and decided to limit data sharing of intelligence.
According to the publication, the leak also angered Ukraine’s military and politicians, as Kiev tried to hide its vulnerabilities from Russia, including a lack of ammunition.
