World War on the Threshold: What’s going on between Iran and Israel, and what does the US have to do with it

Experts believe Tel Aviv has turned the entire Middle East against itself.

Israel has turned the entire Middle East against itself. This is the opinion of an expert on national security issues, the famous Israeli journalist Yoni Ben-Menachem. According to him, after the rapprochement with the Sino-Russian axis, Iran began to unite around it other countries of the Middle East.

“At the same time, Israeli attacks have turned many countries against Jerusalem. Israel will not be able to defeat them: Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon. The whole Middle East has united with Iran against Israel,” said the journalist.

The expert noted earlier that Iran is now encouraged by the agreement it signed with Saudi Arabia under Chinese mediation, as well as the fact that the American position in the Middle East is improving. weakens.

Ben Menachem.

Iran’s new ties and a stab in the back of the United States

Last week, Iran restored diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia after many years. The move has already been called a stab in the back for the United States — and all because Washington is rapidly losing its reputation in the Middle East.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia held their first official meeting in Beijing, the first in more than seven years. Previously, they held telephone consultations and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman said it was necessary to build relations with Iran as with a neighboring country.

US sanctions have fostered rapprochement

Iran continues to establish relations with a number of countries. Largely thanks to the sanctions, it has grown closer to Russia. Both against Iran and against the Russian Federation, they were introduced literally in “packs”. The countries began to cooperate more actively, and in 2022 the trade turnover between Moscow and Tehran reached record levels. Practice has shown that the more sanctions the United States and its allies impose on various countries, the closer they get.

Tehran has been under sanctions for a record period of more than 40 years. The first US sanctions were imposed shortly after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, when Shah Reza Pahlavi, who was considered an American protege, was overthrown. The revolutionaries seized the US embassy and demanded that Washington extradite the former leader, as well as return the wealth they had withdrawn.

And after diplomatic relations were severed, America imposed an embargo on all exports, including food and medicine. After that, some sanctions were lifted, others were introduced. The reasons for this were constantly different – either human rights were being violated, or the country was allegedly supporting terrorism, or it was violating nuclear agreements.

Together against sanctions – a step towards a multipolar world

But Iran did not shut down, was not afraid, and continues to develop foreign policy ties. Relations improved with Russia and then with a number of other countries. Such cooperation has shown that the unipolar world (where one country is the leader, and the others depend on it in one way or another) is disappearing. Recently, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi underlined this during a telephone conversation with his Syrian counterpart.

“Presidents have signaled that the unipolar world is disappearing thanks to the vigilance of peoples and countries defending their sovereignty and dignity,” Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s office said in a statement.

Photo by Sajad Nori on Unsplash The new world order will largely depend on the countries of the Middle East, according to Iran. Local publication Javan explains that now “there are more opportunities for Arab countries to act more independently, to build alternative alliances with new centers of power, i.e. with India , Russia, China, to interact more broadly within the framework of OPEC”. +, without turning to the West, to determine the volume of oil production at the level where it benefits them, and not the Western powers.

A conflict could lead to a world war

Another problem is that the situation between Israel and Iran remains tense and could lead to a serious conflict. Tel Aviv has been accused of a drone attack on an Iranian defense installation earlier this year, but Israel has not acknowledged its involvement. At the same time, countries constantly accuse each other of bombardments and provocations.

Photo: pixabay.com Relations between Iran and Israel can hardly be called good. Israel says Iran could pose a nuclear threat. In 1996, Netanyahu called on the world community to isolate Iran and Iraq, which he said were a source of nuclear danger. In 2003, Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said he did not rule out an operation to destroy nuclear facilities in Iran. And in 2011, Israeli President Shimon Peres admitted the possibility of war with Iran. Tehran has stepped up its nuclear program in recent years, further angering Israel. And Iran is striving with all its might to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, including supporting neighbors such as Algeria, Lebanon and Palestine.

Earlier, Notepad said Israeli authorities held a “surprise” for Muslims during Ramadan.
