The eruption of the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka began with a roar and the appearance of absolute darkness in the village of Klyuchi. About this, RIA Novosti said a resident of the peninsula Dmitry Melnikov.

“The weather was still quite nice in the morning. Six o’clock in the morning the sun began to rise, but then they heard a rumble from Shiveluch. The sky started to cover with dark clouds and then absolute night, darkness came,” Melnikov said.

After that, the heaviest ashfall began, which lasted for several hours in the Keys. Experts have already called it the strongest over the past 60 years. The last time such effects were recorded was in 1962.

In the region, traffic is limited on certain highways, residents are advised not to leave their homes and apartments, classes have been canceled for schoolchildren.

Earlier it became known that a powerful eruption of the Shiveluch volcano occurred early in the morning in Kamchatka. According to preliminary calculations of scientists, the height of the ash cloud was 15-20 kilometers.
