Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his displeasure to the representative of the US State Department in connection with the threats published in the media to increase the sanctions against his country. The head of state called these threats disrespectful and unacceptable and suggested that the US representative go where he feels comfortable, but not in Venezuela.
Earlier, the Europa Press building reported that the United States reserves the right to toughen sanctions if there is no progress in political dialogue with the opposition. The news came after Juan Guaido announced his possible arrest.
Maduro noted that Venezuela does not accept Washington’s threats and has already overcome sanctions barriers with its own efforts. He also stressed that the US representative must understand that Venezuela deserves respect, not threats and sanctions.
“Rep Gringo threatened Venezuela: If we don’t establish a dialogue with the gangster, corrupt and door-to-door trade sector of the unitary platform, they will increase the sanctions against our country. I suggest to this rep gringo to go to hell, because Venezuela is respected,” Maduro stressed.
