The German Air Force announced the postponement of a German army mission to evacuate about 150 citizens from Sudan today, due to the fighting in the capital, Khartoum. In a related context, the Japanese government announced today its readiness to send forces to rescue its citizens from Sudan, and government spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno said, in a press conference, that members of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces will be sent to the African country to rescue Japanese citizens. About 60 Japanese live in Sudan, which is witnessing military clashes for the fifth day in a row, since the end of last week. The local Kyodo news agency quoted Matsuno as saying that there are no reports of injuries among the Japanese living in Sudan. Clashes renewed at dawn today between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, in Khartoum and several areas, despite the truce, and the truce entered into force at 18:00 local time on Tuesday evening. Since April 15, Sudan has been witnessing clashes between the two sides in Khartoum and other cities, and the two sides have exchanged accusations that each of them launched an attack on the headquarters of the other, in addition to allegations of controlling sites belonging to each of them.
