The coordination meeting of the Arab negotiating group on climate change

Organized by the Department of Environment and Meteorology "Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs"Over two days, the coordination meeting /33/ of the Arab negotiating group on climate change. The meeting was held via visual communication technology, with the participation of more than 80 negotiators from all Arab countries, in addition to experts from various Arab organizations and relevant United Nations organizations, according to a statement issued today by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The meeting discussed the most important results of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27), and developments in the situation on a number of technical issues, including response measures, mitigation and adaptation, financing, losses and damages, the global outcome, and just transition, where the developments of the situation on these issues were reviewed by the representatives of the countries. The meeting also discussed the strategy of the Arab countries to obtain financing and mobilize climate action 2022-2030, which was completed and presented to the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs last October, whereby a greater opportunity was given to countries to review it and make observations on it, in preparation for its launch at the Conference of the Parties. The next one is COP 28, to be held in Dubai, UAE, at the end of this year. The meeting comes within the framework of the efforts of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to coordinate Arab positions in the negotiations on climate change, and to inform the members of the Arab team about developments in this regard before the conference of the bodies affiliated to the Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled for the first week of next June at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. in Bonn, Germany.
