Today, Canada announced the temporary suspension of its diplomatic activities in Sudan.
In a statement, the Canadian government said: "A decision has been made to temporarily suspend our operations in Sudan, limited consular services will continue to be provided, and Canadian diplomats will work temporarily from a safe location outside the country".
She added: "Canadian diplomats will continue to work with the Government of Sudan, neighboring countries, and the international community to coordinate the response to this crisis".
The Canadian government urges all parties to agree to an immediate ceasefire and to engage in mediation efforts supported by regional partners that promote dialogue and lasting peace.
The ongoing clashes in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces caused a humanitarian crisis, and prompted many countries to carry out evacuations of their nationals from Sudan.
