Although Qatar produces many types of wet and dry dates, it also imports a percentage of Jordanian dates of all kinds, especially the variety "Unknown" Which enjoys wide spread, popularity and great acceptance in the Qatari markets, and the markets of the Arab Gulf countries in general.
Qatari commercial circles estimated the volume of Qatar’s imports of Jordanian dates during the holy month of Ramadan at about 25 tons of various varieties and types.
Qatari traders and importers told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Monday, that the rate of importing Jordanian dates to the Qatari market witnessed a big jump during the holy month, compared to the usual import rate during other months of the year.
They pointed out that Qatar imports more than 12 tons of Jordanian dates per month within the normal rates, but during the holy month of Ramadan, the volume of imports recorded a remarkable jump in view of the privacy of the holy month, and the large increase in demand for various types of dates, due to the high rate of consumption.
