UN expects India to overtake China in population by end of April
India will become the world leader in terms of population this week, according to the Associated Press. In his predictions, he refers to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
According to the department, it is at the end of April that India will overtake China in terms of the number of inhabitants of 1.425 billion, and soon after it will overtake it. By mid-2023, India is expected to overtake China in population by 2.9 million.
According to some estimates, India has probably already overtaken China in terms of population. Thus, the independent organization World Population Review informed that the population of India at the end of 2022 was 1.417 billion inhabitants. Another platform – Macrotrends – estimated the population of this country at 1.428 billion.
In mid-November 2022, according to the UN, the world population exceeded 8 billion people.
