Japan and the EU did not support the US proposal to completely ban exports to Russia

Representatives of Japan and the European Union (EU) expressed their disagreement with the proposal of the American side to the Big Seven on the need to introduce a complete ban on exports to Russia. In their opinion, the adoption of such a decision is impossible, writes the newspaper Financial Times (FT).

According to one of the publication’s sources, Tokyo and the European Union consider the American initiative unrealistic.

Two other officials told the FT that Washington made the proposal when it was unhappy there was a system for Moscow to import Western technology.


Earlier, the Kyodo agency published a document indicating that discussions on the possible introduction of an “almost total” export ban to the Russian Federation are indeed underway at the level of G7 representatives. Initially, Bloomberg wrote about this American idea.
