Russia could go on the offensive with better weather – US White House

– Published on:

In recent days, the United States has changed its rhetoric regarding offensive operations in the zone of the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict. If before American officials spoke only about the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, now in the United States they assume that it is Russia that can go on the offensive.

In any case, that’s exactly what the US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House, John Kirby, said in an interview with American media radio (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation ).

According to him, the Russian army can attack in several directions at once. However, neither the United States nor Ukraine know the exact location of the strike.

We know that in the spring when the weather improves, and it is already starting to improve, we can expect that the Russians will want to go on the offensive in certain areas, and it is not clear exactly where and how they are going to do it, but we want to make sure that the Ukrainians are able to better defend themselves against this

Kirby said.

At the same time, the American official stressed that the United States will not oppose the offensive of the Ukrainian army. But the decision on this, according to the President of the American Security Council, should be taken in Kiev.

If they decide on their own offensive operations, they could carry them out. We develop the capabilities we provide to Ukraine

  • said the official.

In the same interview, John Kirby lists the main needs of the Ukrainian army. According to him, the Ukrainian armed forces have the most urgent need for armored vehicles, artillery, air defense systems and logistics. In a word, the Ukrainian army still needs everything.
