Borussia Dortmund extends Marco Reus’s contract

– Published on:

Borussia Dortmund, leaders in the German Football League, extended the contract of its captain, Marco Reus, for an additional year until the summer of next year 2024. The club officially announced that the contract for the best player in Germany twice before, will not end at the end of the current season, but rather will extend another season, to complete the busy career. With Dortmund, who joined him in 2012, scoring 161 goals, he is 16 goals away from the record set by Adi Preisler between 1946 and 1959. Royce said in a statement: "Happy to extend my contract for another year, I’ve always said I’d rather not play for another team in my career than Dortmund… We as a team, like all our fans, have one big goal in mind that we’re all focused on: we want to be champions of Germany". Reus played 48 matches with the German national team, scoring 15 goals, but he missed major tournaments due to injury, including the 2014 World Cup, before an ankle injury missed him last September from participating in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
