New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday inaugurate 91 FM transmitters spread across 18 states and two union territories, which will boost FM radio connectivity in border areas and aspirational districts.

Aspirational districts and border areas are at the heart of this effort, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement. According to the PMO, with this effort radio services will reach an additional two crore people, who till now did not have access to this medium. This will further increase the coverage in an area of ​​about 35,000 sq km. This extension has been done two days before the 100th episode of the Prime Minister’s monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat.

Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Ladakh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, according to the statement. A total of 91 new FM transmitters of 100W have been installed in 84 districts. An official statement said, “The Prime Minister is a firm believer in the important role of radio in reaching out to the masses.

It said that the Prime Minister had started the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program to reach out to more and more people by harnessing the unique power of this medium. The 100th episode of the show is scheduled to air on Sunday.
