The Turkish presidency denies the allegations regarding President Erdogan’s health

Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, today, Thursday, prior to the inauguration of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.

Kalin said yesterday that Erdogan and Putin will discuss, during the phone call, the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the latest developments related to the Ukrainian war, according to Anadolu Agency.

In another context, the head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department, Fakhruddin Altun, categorically denied the allegations regarding President Erdogan’s health.

Altoun said in a tweet on his Twitter account "TRT Arabic" President Erdogan will participate in the opening ceremony of the first nuclear power plant "Aq strong" Southern Türkiye via video Thursday.

Work also began on pouring the first concrete platforms for the third power unit on March 10, 2021, with a ceremony attended by President Erdogan and Putin via video link.

While the foundation stone for the fourth and final unit was laid on July 21, 2022, to begin the intensive construction stages of the project, which has also turned into one of the largest construction sites in the world.

The power plant, which will produce approximately 35 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, when fully operational, is expected to meet 10 percent of Turkey’s electricity demand alone.
