Beijing: The death toll in an explosion at a chemical plant in Liaocheng city of Shandong province has risen to 9. Local officials gave this information on Wednesday. The incident happened on Monday morning at the hydrogen peroxide production area of Luxi Chemical Group under Sinochem Holdings Corporation Limited.
After the blast, the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. But before that, five people were reported to have been found dead. However, during further search and rescue operations, staff at the site found four more bodies. With this the death toll rose to nine. One person is missing, search and rescue efforts are still on. However, the fire at the spot has been brought under control and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
