He added: “We affirm our full commitment to open and protect humanitarian corridors to facilitate the movement of citizens in places controlled by our forces and to ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid.

He continued, “We are also ready to cooperate, coordinate and provide anything that helps to alleviate the current circumstances.”

The army accepts a truce

And the Sudanese army announced on Wednesday evening its approval of the initiative presented by the Intergovernmental Authority on the Development of Eastern African Countries to extend the current truce for a week, and declared in a communicated :

The armed forces express their approval of the proposal based on the principle of African solutions to the problems of the continent and taking into account the humanitarian aspects of our citizens, in view of the ongoing US-Saudi initiative. We hope that the RSF will respect the demands of the proposed truce.
