Oleg Gumenyuk was ousted for 5 years, but the former mayor is not very happy with this fact, according to TELMENEWS.RU news agency
On May 2, a hearing was held on the appeal of the former mayor of Vladivostok, Oleg Gumenyuk. The complaint lodged in February against the court’s decision contained a request to change the measure of restraint to house arrest.
During the meeting, Oleg Gumenyuk burst into a moving speech, speaking with his penultimate word. The former mayor said that on March 29 his grandson was born. Considering the nearly 17-year sentence, he won’t be able to take her to school when he enters first grade.
Gumenyuk does not see the meaning of life later.
“Yes, it would be better if they shot me. Why live like this! said Gumenyuk, adding that he was speaking absolutely seriously. It should be noted that during the review, the lawyers’ arguments were heard, and the former mayor was reduced to 12 years in prison, as well as a fine of 150-140 million rubles.
The other paragraphs of the verdict remained unchanged. Gumenyuk was deprived of the right to hold positions related to performing the duties of a representative of power in state bodies and local self-government bodies for 9 years. Recall that according to the prosecution, the former mayor regularly received bribes from the MBC Necropolis for general patronage. The amount of bribes is estimated at around 31 million rubles.
