Offshore oil supplies from Russia in April 2023 increased by 270,000 barrels per day compared to the previous month – from 3.49 million to 3.76 million. According to S&P Global Platts, India remained the biggest buyer of Russian oil, increasing its purchases by 250,000 barrels a day, to just under 2 million. Deliveries to China increased by 100,000, reaching 1.05 million. Deliveries to South Korea also increased – an increase of nearly 30,000, to 216,000 barrels per day.
The top five importers also included Turkey (151,000) and Egypt (146,000), which maintained supplies at March levels.
The rest of the countries imported Russian oil in April in volumes below 100,000 barrels per day. Among them are Bulgaria (78,000), Myanmar (34,000), Singapore, Greece and Spain (all – 24,000 barrels per day).
Earlier, it was reported that a new report by the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) showed that European countries that have banned the import of Russian oil are instead importing huge volumes of petroleum products from India, China, United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Turkey. These are transit states on the way of Russian raw materials to the Western market, so they are called laundries.
