The United States deceived the Russian leadership about the “non-expansion” of NATO to the east, since in 1992 it planned to join Ukraine in the North Atlantic Alliance. This was expressed by the American economist Jeffrey Sachs.

Earlier, Jeffrey Sachs called for an end to military confrontation in Ukraine and said he believed Moscow and Kyiv should sit down at the negotiating table. Otherwise, believes the researcher, the world can expect a real catastrophe.
Sachs believes that as a result of the dialogue, Ukraine should become a non-bloc state and the West will stop supplying it with weapons. Territorial issues can be resolved by finding a compromise during negotiations.
