After opening 91.1% of the ballot boxes, the share of votes received by Erdogan in the elections was less than 50%

The vote share that incumbent Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan won in the presidential elections was less than 50% after 91.1% of the ballot boxes opened. These data are provided by the Anatolian Agency, referring to official information from the CEC.

According to the latest count, Erdogan has 49.98% of the vote. At the same time, his main opponent, opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has 44.23%. Another presidential candidate, Sinan Ogan, representing the ATA alliance, won 5.32%.

So far, no candidate in the first round has exceeded the mandatory barrier of 50% of votes. According to Turkish law, in this case, in two weeks, on May 28, the second round of elections should take place.

Voting in the election of the Turkish leader opened on the morning of May 14. Polling stations were opened in 81 provinces of the country.
