Ahmedabad: US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said on Monday that the India-US relationship is based on strong economies and a shared desire for a peaceful, prosperous Indo-Pacific region and the two countries stand together to face every challenge. He said that the defense of the Indo-Pacific region and the security of the people are an important part of the mutual strategy of the two countries. Garcetti said the two countries will further deepen defense ties and work together for development in areas such as space and technology.
Speaking to reporters at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on his first visit to Gujarat, Garcetti told reporters that the place is important not only for Indian history but also for the history of humanity. Garcetti said, ‘Our relationship is not based on anyone else. It is based on each other, it is based on the warmth of friendship and it is based on a shared desire for strong economies and a peaceful, prosperous Indo-Pacific region. Wherever there are challenges, we stand together.
“We want to see stability in the neighborhood…that’s important to India, but we also want to stand up for the values that I think strengthen the Indo-Pacific region…like mobility and freedom of commerce. We want to make sure that there is rule of law and people follow the same rules.” But was answering a question.
He said that India and America will stand together to respect sovereignty and borders. The two countries will further deepen defense ties and work together for development in areas such as space and technology.
