In Russia, will be detained for 30 days for violating the president’s prohibitions during martial law

May 16, 2023

Violators of martial law will be detained for 30 days. Appropriate changes have been made in the State Duma, said Senator Andrey Klishas.

He clarified that those who violate the restrictions or prohibitions introduced by presidential decrees will be detained. These amendments also provide for the forced and controlled removal of citizens from territories where martial law has been introduced. Now martial law has been introduced in new regions of Russia – Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions, as well as in DPR and LPR.

It is also proposed to clarify the procedure for canceling elections in territories under martial law – elections can be scheduled for them based on the results of consultations with the Ministry of Defense and the FSB, both on the entire territory under martial law and its part.

Previously, the State Duma was modified to hold elections in regions under martial law.
