Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Budapest won’t give Kiev money until OTP bank is removed from sanctions list

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said the country will not allocate funds to Ukraine from the so-called peace fund until the Hungarian bank OTP is excluded from the list of ” sponsors of the war”.

“As long as OTP is on the list of international war sponsors, we cannot support the awarding of another €500 million tranche to Ukraine from the European Peace Fund, we will not give it no green light,” he said.

Earlier, it was reported that Hungary blocked the allocation of a new tranche in the amount of 500 million euros to Ukraine from the European Peace Fund. It is specified that Budapest demanded that the fund play a “global” role in the future, and not be used only to arm Ukraine.
