FAS urged to extend parallel imports to all categories of goods

– Published on:

Parallel imports should be extended to all categories of goods, in addition to those produced in Russia. This was stated by the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), Maxim Shaskolsky, during the final council of the department.

“We consider it fair to allow parallel imports of all goods, except goods whose production is localized in Russia,” he said.

Shaskolsky stressed that these are only original products legally purchased from foreign manufacturers, the quality and safety of which can be verified.

In May last year, the Russian authorities published a list of goods for parallel imports. This list includes more than 50 categories of goods needed by industry and consumers, and includes both certain brands and certain categories of goods in general. In the fall, the Federal Customs Service reported that the increase in parallel imports is estimated at 12% per month.
